Answered Prayer, not about us!
March 15, 2017
In today’s devotion about Hannah I had an epiphany about answered prayer. It’s not about me! In today’s world, even in today’s churches, we are taught to ask God for what we want and He will answer us. Well, yes God loves us, He will take care of us. He answered our prayers. BUT…the answer isn’t just for us! When we are called to wait, it isn’t just for us. With Hannah’s prayer, she had to wait on God’s timing. If she would’ve had a baby sooner, the whole plan would not have worked. God has all the details worked out, so fine tuned that even a micro minute would throw everything off. We see this over and over in the Bible, and in our world. God’s about the whole picture, the future as well as the present. This is so much bigger than myself! Talk about selfish prayer! Praying, no matter what that prayer is about, has meaning and power that affect Gods People, Gods Timing. Who am I to be impatient?
How will this impact my prayer life? Knowing my prayers are about God’s people will strengthen my faith. This allows me to wait on God’s timing, God’s perfect will, and gives me hope. When I pray, I need to be ready, be ready to go when God says GO!
