Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Jesus!

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14 ASV

“Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And Jehovah said unto me, They have well said that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.”
Deuteronomy 18:15-19 ASV

I wanted to be out of the box for a moment here. Notice the verses I chose to represent Christmas are Old Testiment verses. How interesting is it to see Jesus birth predicted in the Old Testament. The Bible has always fascinated me, ever since I was a child. However, when I was younger, both physically and spiritually, the Old Testament bored me.
Not until I started bible studies and getting into Gods word daily did the Old Testament start sparking interest. Some people say the Old Testament is void and not to be taken seriously. Some people only read and rely on the Old Testament.
I find it amazing how the old and new testaments work hand in hand and come alive. Even when I read the same verse more than once, it says what I need to hear at that moment. That’s one reason why I enjoy journaling. When a verse speaks to me, writing the meaning, or the way it ministered to me at that moment, keeps a record of what the Holy Spirit is saying to me at that time.
Jesus is alive! He came as a baby and went through the same growing pains as we do. Jesus feels our pain in every situation.
HE is our gift! What are we giving Jesus this year for Christmas? It doesn’t have to cost a penney!
Hmm, what is my gift to Jesus this year? I’m praying about it as I write this. I’m coming up with, taking better care of my physical body. This may sound selfish, or typical. But in reality, if I do my part in keeping healthy, God can use me better and longer. Of course we can’t control what happens to us in this world. However, by taking care of ourselves we know we are doing our part to give our best to God and share His truth with others.
I think this is a start of another blog subject that I will touch on in a couple of weeks.
What is your gift to Jesus?
