“Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs.”

In our world today we are so focused on our self. On our wants and our desires. If we stop and focus on God our Father and all the blessings He has already given us, we’d be better equipped to face the challenges this world throws our way. God has blessed me in so many ways!!! With a wonderful loving caring sweet husband who loves the Lord! With children, their significant others and grandchildren. And special friends! In fact, if you are reading this and you know me, you are a Huge part of who I am. God has/is used/using you to show me how to love.

This picture is a picture of me, many years ago with my grandma. I have many sweet memories of her. After our third child we moved 3 hours away, but that didn’t stop her. We didn’t have social media, and it cost a fortune to use the phone long distance. But she kept up with us through mail. Simple letters with coupons. She thought of our family, took her time to cut out coupons, write and send us. I came across those letters recently, so very special! The last memory I had of her is a sad one. She spent her last days in a nursing home with dementia and blind. She did not remember us at all. What I remember was her reciting the Lord’s Prayer over and over. Sad but special.

We all are examples whether we want to be or not. As parents we were responsible to teach, care, protect, and love our children. People use to tell me being a grandparent was so much better than being a parent. A grandparent can spoil the child and then send the child home to the parents. Sometimes true, but not always. There are many types of grandparents. Some do just that. Some raise their grandchildren. Some have contact with their grandchildren long distance. Some aren’t able to have any contact at all. No matter what type of grandparent we may be, we all have one thing in common. Grandkids!

Before I was a grandparent I was concentrating on becoming a good parent. Trying to reap everything I could along the different stages of parenthood. During that time, though I didn’t realize it, I gleaned info on becoming a good grandparent. Learning what my responsibilities are. What my interaction should be. What involvement I should have. And each situation is different. So a grandparent does what a grandparent needs to do in order to meet the needs. Improvise! The main thing is to be a person God wants us to be. (Even if you’re not a parent or grandparent, somebody is watching and learning.)
Often mentioned in my blogs is how my mother-in-law was a great example even in death. And she didn’t even try. She was about a personal relationship with Jesus and let God have her life. But she isn’t the only woman in my life that has molded me. I am so very blessed and grateful to have so many that the list would be longer than this blog.
With all my shortcomings, failures and goof ups, the one thing I want people to know and remember me by is my Love for God, how the most important thing to me is a personal relationship with God through Jesus. And the only way I can have that is with prayer. Prayer is the key. Without prayer my eyes return to me and “me” is not too pretty.
One of my incentives is that I’m responsible for me and an example to others wether I like it or not. I can’t be the example I want to be on my own. Only through the power of Jesus-Holy Spirit-God our Heavenly Father. Only through prayer!
Remember, someone is watching you!
