Prayer and Training

The next step would be prayer and training. So what comes first? I’m going to say the obvious, prayer. For without prayer, how do you know what training would be best? There are so many training choices, something for everyone and for everything.

So this blog will be dedicated to prayer.

Of course personal prayer is what started this ministry JVR to begin with. And its prayer that has kept it alive for over 15 years, even though it seems to the human eye to be lying dormant. I can’t help but argue that case. Though JVR has taken a quiet sideline, I truly don’t believe it’s been lying dormant. God has been molding all involved with JVR ministries continually, without us ‘humans’ even knowing it.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

The next step is to reach out for a prayer team. Be careful when choosing your prayer team. You want a group of 3 or 4 that you can trust. Trust that they will take prayer seriously and keep everything you share with them confidential. This first prayer team will be called your executive prayer team. The prayer warriors you want to be in prayer for you, as the director of you ministry, and the ministry itself. They will keep all matters of personal, spiritual, and ministry related prayer requests confidential and constantly lifted to our Heavenly Father. This team, I would suggest you choosing rather than asking for volunteers. It’s that serious and important to pray for who God wants you to choose for this task.

Use this next month to pray for your Executive Prayer team leads. Then ask who’s on your heart. If possible, this would be a special request over a coffee, lunch, or even dinner. Ask your chosen prayer partner to take time and pray about it themselves.  Supply them with an outline, website, mission statement, and contract to review. Schedule a follow-up visit to get your answer. Remember, this first prayer team is a special and hopefully life long commitment for somebody. Now, I do say life long commitment, but the contracts suggested for use here are only 12 month contracts. Each year would be a great time to meet up and revisit the past year, share suggestions and room for improvement, and make sure the commitment stands as previously expected. On both ends.

I’m practicing what I’m posting here, working along with you. I’ll come back next month with my executive prayer team. Will protect their identities, of course. I would love to hear about your progress as well. Working together gives strength and support.
