The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

Once again we start a new year. New words to live by. New resolutions. Learning from past mistakes. Reminiscing the good memories. This past year is full of missing family and friends and welcoming new ones. Something about the first of January, something fresh and enthusiastic. What about you? Have you decided on your new year resolution? What is your word for the year? Or what other New Year tradition do you practice? I’ve had new year resolutions. For the past few years I’ve focused on a particular word. But the one thing that has stuck with me? The one thing that has grown constantly? My relationship with Christ. To be perfectly clear, when I say have consistently grown, I’m not saying I never mess up. My life is a constant forward two, backward one. I fail constantly, but with the failure, Christ shows up and I grow. Yes I know that is a bit confusing. It still confuses me. I can stop right now and say with no doubt in my mind that there are so many others out there that are better people than I am. Better followers of Christ. Better doers of the word. More faithful in their prayer life. And in my earlier years I would wallow in self pity. In fact I probably will do it again. And that’s ok. It’s ok because it does keep me humble. But it also allows me to grow closer to Christ. It teaches me how I should be. Again, I’ve said it before and I’ll say again, my prayer for you the reader, is that you will know God and seek His will for your precious life! We can rest in our Heavenly Father! Stay in His Word and in prayer without ceasing.
