A Beautiful Covenant

“Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”
Genesis 9:9-13
What a beautiful sight, and reminder of God’s promise, covenant, to never again destroy the entire earth by a flood. As I see this beautiful sight in the sky, a peaceful feeling fills my soul. A feeling of joy and comfort and assurance that God is in control and loves us.
As I researched the verse to go along with this blog and picture, God spoke to me about something I’ve never thought of before. Our world is crazy out of control, and I’m sure it makes our Heavenly Father very sad and angry. These verses I read made me realize that maybe when we see a rainbow, God is looking down and reminding not only us that covenant, but himself. What a patient Father we have.
“When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.”
Genesis 9:14-15
Do we understand? Do we even have the capacity to understand God’s point of view? I don’t think we do. Do we have the capacity to understand God’s love for us? Even on a spiritual level I dare to guess we have not fully understood Gods love for us. Not until we go to Heaven. Again, don’t quote me as factual, it’s my opinion only. But think of the fullest love you have ever felt, ever. Our Heavenly Fathers Love is so much stronger than that!
