Wasting Time?

“But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.””
Luke 10: 41-42

Time, a resource out of our control. We humans waste a lot of time. Myself included. Some of us waste it by sleeping away the day. But a certain amount of sleep is necessary for us to grow and stay healthy to use time wisely. Some of us waste time by sitting and doing nothing. But doing nothing is needed at times to be able to focus and use time wisely. Some of us waste time by being busy doing things, keeping busy. But things need to be done in order for us not to waste time. A person can waste time with anything and everything. So how do we know when we are wasting time? Or being proactive? How do we know what and when to do something and when not to? Time can never be saved. Time can never be reclaimed.

We can not depend on others to tell us if we are wasting time or not. Self help books can be a source of help but even they can not tell us how not to waist time.

What one person sees as a waste of time, another does not. And feeling guilty for what is being done or not being done is also a waste of time.

The answer? Prayer, listening to the Holy Spirit, obedience.

When we discipline ourself in prayer and reading God’s word we are learning to hear the Holy Spirit. When we listen to the Holy Spirit in every day events and activities we can lose the guilt and be about God’s Business. If we are about God’s Business, His Business He has for us, not what others have for us, we will never be wasting time.

Something I heard from an old rerun, “Touched by an Angel”, really sticks with me. “Everyone always thinks it could’ve been them.” And “Everyone always says, when something happens to them, IF only.”
When will we embrace life as is and realize things do happen to us and maybe, they were suppose to happen to us? I know that can be a hard concept to grasp, especially for the really bad things that happen. My point is, when we stay in prayer and in God’s word and trust in Him, give our all to our Savior, it will be more than ok.
We serve and Awesome God!!
