How Did You Meet God?
“Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
John 3:5
How did you meet God?
Or do you know God?
When did you learn about His son Jesus? Or do you know Jesus?
Do you believe in God?
Do you know the story of how the God of everything gave His son for us?
As far as I can remember, I met God when I was a child, maybe 4 or 5 years old. My parents brought me to a little vacation bible school held in a trailer in a parking lot of a very small church. I remember playing with play-do, and the teacher talking about God and Jesus. After that I couldn’t stay away from church. As soon as I was old enough to walk to church and Saturday religious school, I did. (First grade) I remember the confusion learning about Jesus at church and Indians in school. My mind couldn’t comprehend the time line, or the location. But I kept going to learn, to get answers. I remember my dad and I having in depth conversations about Jesus coming back, about the world ending. I was a young teen then. We would discuss the book of Revelation.
That is what brought me to read the Bible, curiosity.
The fist prayer I remember praying, when I was about 15, was a prayer for my grades in school. About my tests. I froze during tests, no matter how hard I studied.
That is what brought me to prayer, need.
I remember a pastor coming to our home after I was newly married. He showed me John 3:5 “Jesus said: Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
That is what brought me salvation, fear and obedience.
No I’m not a religious fanatics, although some people think I am. I believe in Gods love and holiness. I believe angels and demons are real. I believe heaven and hell are real. I believe in the Bible as the word of God. I believe in prayer and miracles. I believe that God, our creator, our Holy Father, gave His only son so all of us can live eternity with Him. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity. But I don’t consider myself religious. To me religion is man made, rules and mans idea of what God wants for us and others. But God is not about that. God is our Holy Father, He gave us rules to help us, not harm us. He gave us chances to have a relationship with Him, even after we messed up the perfect setting. He gave us choices we could make ourself. Religion is not about choices it’s about rules and judgment. God is about love and grace and relationship. If we reject Him, then we are judged by Him, by His rules. He is the creator and we have the privilege and opportunity to have an awesome relationship with our creator. Think about how awesome that is!
I started reading the Bible, praying, obeying, out of selfish reasons. God took that and used it to show me Love and grace. He wants a relationship with us! Let him in.
No I’m not perfect! I’m loved! I’m thankful for an awesome Heavenly Father who created me, knew me before creation, loves me as I am.
