My Responsibility

“If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.”

Galatians 6:3-5 NLT

Ooh I like this version. How true is this? When we let our success go to our head we tend to be more judgmental of others. But when we remember who we are and where we came from, we can be understanding and loving, and forgiving.

There was a time when a coworker bullied me. I was in her office and to be quite frank, I had enough. This wasn’t the first time I was bullied, but I usually took it, let it roll off of my shoulders, and walked away. This time however, I spoke up. Not mean or to get even, I defended my case. This time, of course, our boss walked by and yelled at us…”Girls, behave yourselves! Straighten up!” I was sooooooo upset! How dare I get In trouble for this coworker bullying me!

What did I learn? This very scripture!! I am responsible for my own actions. It doesn’t matter who started it. This is a hard lesson no matter how old we are.

Bottom line, we are responsible to God for our own actions, attitudes, and behavior!!

Another reason to keep in prayer constantly. Not one of us can be that strong without the strength of our savior Jesus!

Some things our Holy Scripture spoke to me about today:

*Nobody is more important than anybody else.

*Do what we know we are to do no matter what others think.

*Don’t compare ourselves to anybody else.

*We are responsible for our own actions.

What are these verses telling you today? Read the verses before and after. Read these verses in different versions. Pray for God to speak to you through this scripture. What do you need to hear? What is God telling you?
