Gods Voice

“Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

My focus word for 2020 is Wisdom. So far everything I’ve been studying, reading, watching, listening to is telling me to listen to God only. To learn Gods voice in the midst of this world’s chaos.

I need to continually learn Gods voice and listen to it. There are so many voices in this world that it’s easy to lose track of Gods voice without His Word and Prayer. He’s always working around us, but without knowing His voice we get lost.

When I read over my personal journals I read about my confusion. I see how I’ve been continually overwhelmed at what I should do in certain situations. There are conflicting messages all around us. There are conflicting messages from the people of this world. There are conflicting messages from our brothers and sisters in Christ. There are also conflicting messages from family as well as strangers.

God reminds me to listen only to Him. Even when we don’t understand. Even if something is in the Bible or seems like the right thing to do. If God’s not telling us to do it, it’s not the right thing to do.

Several years ago, a pastor made this remark from the pulpit. He said he’s tired of people using prayer as an excuse not to do something. He declared that if a member of the church’s nominating committee comes up and asks a person to teach Sunday school, that is a word From God, and that person doesn’t have to pray about it. He said that person should say yes on the spot because it’s Gods will that they should do what is asked of them. Not true!! I do understand that some do use that phrase, “I’ll pray about it.” as an excuse or way out of a commitment. But that is on them. If we say we’ll pray about something and we don’t? Well, that’s between us and God. But if it is God’s will, then praying about it, solidifies the deal and everyone is in accord with God’s will. Just because we are asked to do something, no matter how good it is, or how needed we are, it never means we are to automatically do it without praying to our Heavenly Father for wisdom! Let God, the Holy Heavenly Father tell us what to do, not the guilt of any human, including ourselves.

Some things are very obviously a no! (Like evil) And somethings are very obviously a yes. (Like prayer and bible reading) But most everything else, we must pray and seek God’s wisdom.
