Reflect on Thanks Giving!!!

As we come to the last couple of months of 2021 and the end of the Fruit of the Spirit Blog series, I wanted to bring the fruits all together. A beautiful basket of fruit, a gift of gifts.

A basket of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness and self control.

What a way to celebrate Thanksgiving!

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

These past couple of years have been times of turmoil and challenges beyond challenges for most every person on earth. On top of the known World, National, and Environment crisis, people are facing personal challenges as well. Our Heavenly Father alone knows our hearts, even better than we do ourselves. Many years ago God gave us His son, Jesus. Before Jesus left this world He left His Holy Spirit. As we’ve been reading this year, our gifts from the Holy Spirit are ours to have.

It’s enough that God made us. He also gave us a free will. A will to choose. Unfortunately we chose our selfish desires instead of God. But God still did not give up on us. He gives us another chance to be His, by giving us His son, Jesus. This world is broken, because of us, not God. Again, God gives us free will to choose. He gave His only Son!

Have you ever given or tried to give somebody a gift and they refused it? Or worse, accepted it and then forgot about it? That is not a very good feeling. It’s like a slap in the face.

And I get it! It’s hard to accept gifts. We feel like we have to give something in return to earn or pay back the gift. But no, simply accepting the gift and using it is all the giver really wants. And that’s no different for our Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

I wonder if we have forgotten how to accept gifts and use them? If we as Gods children accepted the Fruits of the Spirit, and used them, WOW! It would not only change us. It would change all Gods children. That would change the world!
