Stand Firm as a Rock

“These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 ASV

Stand strong! Solid as a rock! We hear this over and over. Yet, even a strong rock is worn by the constant pounding of the water and elements. Beauty remains, and the transformed rock is continually used by God to enhance life.
“…the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God…If these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” Luke 19: 37-40
I shortened the above bible verses to emphasize how even the stones would praise God. I think this is the most amazing thing. God’s earth, without a soul, knows who’s Holy!
Our Heavenly Father made us in His image and gave us Freedom to praise Him. He gave us so many chances. He gave up His son for us. Why can’t we stand firm and let HIM use us? It’s not easy, and I cringe at the thought and wonder of how I will be able to be strong. But, I know without a shadow of a doubt that no matter what, God’s Will is Perfect! No matter what we see or think.
When I’m alone with His creation I am reminded of how Holy He is. I feel like I can be strong in Christ, that I can be used by Him. When I’m in worship, song and prayer, and in His word, I’m on top of the world, filled with His Holy Spirit. But, when I’m in this world, in the daily walk and routine, I feel anything but strong. This is where I need to learn to depend on God’s Holiness and not my feelings. This is where ‘pray constantly’ comes in. This is where, ‘be still, and know I am God’ comes in.
So, stand strong as a rock. Be solid as a rock. Let God mold and use you, chipping away as needed. And again, I’m talking to myself here!
