Be a Tree Planted by the Waters
July 22, 2017
“For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, that spreadeth out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat cometh, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:8 ASV

Have you ever looked at nature and marveled of its beauty? Wondered how it can be so beautiful even in the middle of chaos? Nature speaks volumns to me. No matter where I am or what time of the day or night it is. No matter the season. The simple act of taking a step outside can lift the deepest depression.
I recently read some entries from one of my journals. A little over a year ago we were struggling with so many decisions, so many choices that had to be made. As I read my entries I gained strength and joy in our Heavenly Father. He reminds me why I’m here, on this earth, in California, in Hanford. Our Lord is in control of every situation, even if we are too close to the trees to see His plans. Even if we are looking at the back of a quilt in progress. If we fly high above the trees and see the forest, if we turn the quilt around and see the beautiful creation, then maybe we can take a huge cleansing breath, sit back and enjoy the ride. Let God have the control. Be still and know He is God! Right?
I don’t know about you, but I need these constant reminders. I believe, know without a shadow of doubt, have complete confidence in God in All things! Yet I need to be reminded, comforted. That is one reason I enjoy using my journals for my prayer time. Not only can I pray more openly, honestly, and personally, I can go back and see how God answers my prayers. I just love that. The older I get the fuzzier my memory gets. But my prayer journals tell the story the same every time I read them. Sometimes they remind me of things I totally forgot about. I named one of my current journals. “A Journey of Faith”. And that it is!!
