Perfect…Is The Human Idea of Perfect Wrong?

March 3, 2018

“And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”

Genesis 1:11-12

On my way to and from work I drive by several fields of fruit and nut trees. It makes me think about how human planted fields are so perfect. I then think of how natural fields are not. Nature is made by God.

So then that made me think, is mans thinking of perfect not really perfect at all? I mean God is perfect in all ways and all things and we are not. So is our thinking of perfect not really perfect? Hmmm something to ponder on.

My favorite flowers are wild flowers. A field of mixed wild flowers dancing in the wind. Random wild flowers on the side of the road. This to me is most beautiful! What if, mans idea of perfect, is not perfect at all? What if, what appears to us, randomness, is the real perfect? Look at the human race, the mixture of humans, all sizes, shapes, colors, and personalities. God made us all, And God is perfect. Who do we think we are? We are not God! How can we think we are better than God? How can we think we can make Gods “imperfection” perfect? (The word imperfection is in quotes because it’s not true.) Doesn’t it make you think?

Bringing this subject around to prayer. Do we pray for what we think is perfect, and then our prayer doesn’t get answered the way we think it should, do we get upset? Are we are praying for God’s perfect will?

In other words, if our vision of perfect is skewed, then we need to be open to God’s perfect answer and expect the unexpected. Wouldn’t that thinking change our prayer life? Wouldn’t that type of thinking stop our questioning of why God does what he does? Allows what He allows? this has been  a mind blower for me. What are your thoughts?
