Ringing in our Spiritual Ears

March 10, 2018

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

2 Timothy 4:3-4

“I will hear what God Jehovah will speak; For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, That glory may dwell in our land.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭85:8-9‬ ‭ASV‬‬

As I’m sitting here reading my devotion and trying to listen to what our Heavenly Father is speaking to me, I’m reminded of all the noise around us that takes away from the Holy Spirit.  The intense ringing in my ears, a symptom of inner ear nerve damage, caused by an automobile accident a little over a year ago, is sometimes so loud that I have a hard time hearing. Sometimes I don’t realize the sounds I’m missing because I focus on the annoying ringing. miss things. I relate this with spiritual listening.

This picture of the mountains is a breathtaking view in person. This is the view I am honored to enjoy on my way home from work. This view only happens about a month or so out of the year, maybe. The mountains are always there, they never move, and I forget about them. The fog and smog cover them up completely most of the year.  During the days the mountains are covered up, if you look really hard, you can faintly make out the outline.  This is what I call visual noise.

When we can’t see or hear God, that doesn’t mean He’s not there. He’s always there, the noise of this world covers Him up.

That’s what I see and hear. That’s what our Awesime Holy Father is telling me this week. He’s telling me to focus on Him, to have faith on Him, not to focus on the noise, but to know He is God and will always be God!

What is God speaking to you today?
