The Unknown Prayer

“And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:26‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Years ago, when my dad was sick and on his death bed, I remember an experience where I was alone, unable to pray, and desperately wanting to pray. It was then that I had my first experience with the Holy Spirit uttering prayers on my account. Though there are no words to describe this experience, it will never be forgotten. This is a personal prayer experience that can not  be practiced, deliberately repeated, or taught. This is an experience from God Himself. Don’t you just love how our Heavenly Father works? He’s full of surprises, yet nothing He does is new. Yes, I know, an oxymoron… But He is God!

I just love the song Thy Will, by Hillary Scott and the Scott Family. It’s amazing how God uses His children and their talents to touch and encourage people they don’t even know. What does this have to do with the unknown prayer? To me, this song expresses my failure to trust God with life. Then to know that He has everything in control, the way He wants it to be. To rest in Him for the outcome. To rest in His will and let go, giving the Holy Spirit reign of our life.  As it should be. What I love best about songs like this, they are real and giving God the Glory where the glory belongs. A song like this does not judge on how bad a person has it. Songs like this encourage everyone, no matter where they are in their walk with God, and no matter where they are in this life.

Again, my point this week is, we are human. He is God. God made us the way we are. God wants to use us the way we are. God knows us better than we do ourself. God gave His Son for us so we can live eternity with Him. God gave His Holy Spirit to us while here on earth to help us, fill us with His hope and encouragement. When we can’t pray, He prays on our behalf, because He knows us better than we know ourself. How precious is that?

I want to know Him more!!!
