A Time For Everything

A Time for Everything
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

How true. We live in a simple yet complicated world. Oxymoron I know, but that’s what makes life interesting and fulfilling. With all the scripture to encourage, reprimand, teach, and praise, this bit of scripture touches life as we know and understand. Scripture, living and Holy words, speaks to us what we need to hear.

It is clear that the Holy Bible is full of some confusing stuff. Some of it may be confusing because we, (I), do not have the education to understand the history, vocabulary, or the culture in which this book was written. Then some may be confusing if there is not a Spiritual relationship between the reader and God. But all of this Holy book is alive. These verses speak to a person at their deepest level, sometimes, (if not always) giving us more than we know we need.

Take this scripture I’ve posted this week. A time for everything. As a Christian myself, I had the idea that I was to be happy all the time, never hate, never be sad. But the Bible says always be full with joy. That doesn’t necessarily mean always be happy. Because in our world we can’t be. But as I’m learning, we can always be full of joy. There is a difference. And there are times we need to mourn, cry, even hate. That last one throws me for a loop. The Bible says to love our enemies. But personally, I feel a time to hate, is to hate things, attitudes, situations. Used correctly, hate can be used in a good way.

I feel like I’m going in circles and contradicting myself, but these verses go very deep into our souls. They aren’t to be used to justify our behavior. This is where the prayer comes in. If we are not in sincere prayer with our Heavenly Father, and listening to Him, we can not understand these concepts. Bowing ones head and saying a few religious words is not prayer. And I’m guilty of that myself. Reading God’s word and using it to benefit a cause is not Gods word. Many have been guilty of this, and we need to be on guard.

It’s so important that we keep in prayer and read Gods word with prayer to be sure we are keeping Gods word Holy.

My challenge to you this week; choose one of the “time to” verses, pray and ask God to show you what He wants you to do with it. Would love it if you share the outcome on this blog!

Have a blessed week!!
