Happy Mother’s Day!!
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.”
Proverbs 31: 30 and 31
Being a mom is no small feat. In fact it never ends. To think about it, being a mother begins before the birth. We are growing and preparing our mind body and soul for motherhood. Being a mother doesn’t always mean giving birth. And one does not stop being a mother after leaving this earth. Motherhood is quite an honor and responsibility in so many ways. Since this is a prayer blog, I’m going to touch on the spiritual side. The power of a Mother’s prayer. Don’t stop praying for your children…ever! The prayer list will grow quite large the longer you have the privilege of living on this earth. And don’t wait until you have grandchildren, great grandchildren or great great grandchildren. Why not start praying for them now? And then there’s the in-law children, step children, adopted children, foster children, friends of your children, Sunday school children, the list goes on and on.
I remember many years ago, watching a children’s choir special in our church. There were maybe 10 or more 4 and 5 year old precious children singing sweet songs praising our Heavenly Father. I remember tears coming to my eyes as I realized these little ones will be our future leaders before we realize it. Those same children now have children of their own. They are spread around this earth sharing what they learned and grew up with. The cycle continues. We may be one mom, one person…but how many people do we influence in our lifetime? We influence people, our children, others children, whether we want to or not, whether we choose to or not. So let’s be in God’s Word and prayer and ask our Heavenly Father to guide us and to use us as Mother’s in His Name. That our legacy as a loving, nurturing mother goes on beyond our time on this earth, bringing the next generation closer to God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit!
To me, the greatest Mother’s Day gift I could ask for, the biggest blessing, larger than any amount of money, fame or fortune is to be a blessing to others. To leave a legacy of Love, Truth, and a trail that leads to our Lord and Savior!
Have a Wonderful Mother’s Day! Enjoy your family! Be a blessing!
