Forgiveness December 15, 2019 / 0 Comments “and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Matthew 6:12 We all want forgiveness. We want others, especially our Heavenly Father, to forgive us for our mess-ups. And we all have them. To be real, it’s hard to forgive others. Especially if we’ve been hurt over and over, we tend to put up walls for protection. I’m not sure if I’m the only one that feels this way, but I have a fear that If I forgive, I’m giving the message it’s ok to keep treating me badly and hurting me. Or, if I forgive, I’m somehow letting the offender get away with the offense. Something I’ve learned along the way is that sometimes, most times, the offender doesn’t even known they’ve hurt us. Some do, and don’t care, or maybe even enjoy it. But the main thing is, un-forgiveness hurts us, the person needing to forgive, more than anybody else. Un-forgiveness eats us up and steals our joy. Guess who gets the most enjoyment out of us holding onto un-forgiveness? Have you figured it out yet? Need I say, the enemy, satan himself. No wonder God tells us to forgive others as He forgives us! Think of the lives, relationships, families, witnessing opportunities, life changing experiences, and (the lists goes on), that have been destroyed by un-forgiveness! To put this into perspective: God made us, gave us everything and we basically spit in His face. He then sent His Son so we could be redeemed and come back into fellowship with Him. We killed and disgraced Him. His Son died and rose again to free us, and we still turn our backs on Him. On another note, sometimes it’s harder to forgive ourself. We’ve all messed up!! Yet our Holy Heavenly Father still Loves us! If the God of all, forgives us, we have no excuse not to forgive ourselves . Or others. Let us remember too, that sometimes we are not capable of forgiving. We need to be in prayer and ask God to help us forgive, give it to Him, the almighty who is the ultimate forgiver! #forgiveothersasHeforgaveus #jesusdiedforus #praytoforgiveothers
