    Daily Bread

Give us this day our daily bread, Matthew 6:11 Do we pray daily for our needs? And if we do, are we satisfied with the answer? When we pray for our daily bread, what are we really praying for? More than likely we want more than we need. And if we don’t get what we want, we tend to complain, get depressed, feel sorry for our self. Me included. I’m not pointing my fingers at anybody. If I would point my finger at anyone, there are always three more pointing back at me. I don’t come from a wealthy family. But at my lowest, I’ve always had what I needed.…

    Gods Kingdom

November 29, 2019 “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 Gods Kingdom When we have children we do everything we can for them. We provide shelter, nourishment, safety, love, everything they need to grow into responsible, strong, respectful adults. During those years we have rules the children need to follow in order for us to protect them. If our children break those rules they step out of our safety net and risk the chance of becoming harmed, or at the very least, uncomfortable. As a loving, caring parent we follow through with the consequences of breaking these rules. As harsh as…

    Our Holy Father

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name” Matthew 6:9 I’ve recently heard somebody compare other religions gods to the the one and only God of all.  We want to live in peace with everybody, but that doesn’t mean we compromise our belief. It doesn’t mean we lash out in judgment either. We should not try to change people or their traditions. We should not change ourself unless we’re changing for and in obedience to our Holy Father, the one and only true God.  This reminds me of one of the many stories in the Bible. The story where Jesus met the woman at the well, He did not condemn…

    My Responsibility

“If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.” Galatians 6:3-5 NLT https://www.bible.com/116/gal.6.3-5.nlt Ooh I like this version. How true is this? When we let our success go to our head we tend to be more judgmental of others. But when we remember who we are and where we came from, we can be understanding and loving, and forgiving. There was…

    Productive and Useful

“In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8 NLT Love everyone. Obey God’s word. Stay away from sin. Encourage others. Keep each other accountable. Don’t judge. Don’t compromise.  Throughout the years growing as a person and a Christian, my…

    A Sweet Fragrance

“Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?” 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 NLT I’ve been writing a lot about love, but even if we’re the best Christians we can be, we will still have haters. In fact we probably will have more haters, the closer we get to our Heavenly Father. But the kicker is,…

    Dry Bones

“The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold,…

    Judgment?

“This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t…

Prayer is not a good luck charm

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will…

    Repurposed

I’ve always had poor self-esteem. I’ve always felt like an outsider. I’ve always felt that everyone else is better than me in everything. When I do something right and start feeling proud of myself, when I start patting myself on the back, something happens that brings me down. I say the wrong thing, or I do something embarrassing, or a mistake that I made previously shows up. I’m afraid to embrace the positive, in fear that a worse negative will follow. Am I crazy? Does anybody else feel or deal with those feelings? All my life I thought myself to be ugly, too tall, too skinny, or now days, too…
