Hope you had a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
U.S. Department of Labor
“Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.”
Eph 4:28
I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Labor Day Weekend!
When I was young, Labor Day marked the end of summer vacation, end of swimming season, and the beginning of school. It marked the beginning of Apple picking, hay rides, colorful trees and pumpkins.
These days Labor Day means a three day weekend to enjoy with family, friends, or to chill.
How things change in time and circumstances. When I started thinking about it, I realized I really didn’t know the meaning of Labor Day. So I did what we do best in our current decade, I googled it.
“It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
Working is good and healthy for more than the pocketbook. When we work we are strengthening our nation. God’s word tells us to work.
“Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.” Proverbs 19:15
“For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.” 2 Thes 3:10-12
This is a perfect foundation for JVR the ministry God has put on my heart for many years. Check out the new Website, JVRMINISTRIES.com. The website is only a couple of months old and is still under construction. The goal is to help, offer and provide tips, support, tools, and guidance to help women support themselves and family if needed, strengthen their communities and grow in Christ.
This weekly prayer blog will continue in that website as well as a new monthly JVR Ministry blog. Please keep this in your prayers! That this website and these blogs will give our Heavenly Father all Glory and Praise and lift Him up always!
