NOT A VICTIM BLOG POST#3

“If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.”

Romans 12:18 HCSB

What does a person do when faced with a narcissistic personality type relative. What does a person do when everything they do is wrong according to this particular person? Live at peace with even this person, not as easy as the words imply.

Are you the type of person that’s a rule follower? Somebody that wants everyone to be happy? Do you think of others before yourself? Are you a type of person that will change your plans or ideas if it makes another happy? Well, you’re not alone. And that’s more than ok!!! That’s how God made you and He did so with a purpose. Of course only you and God know what that purpose is. But in case you didn’t already know, that personality type is the type that the narcissist prey on. Yes, if you’re this type of personality you already know what I mean. And the narcissist type can twist your insides up so tight, it’s ulcer time at the very least. This narcissistic type can also make you feel like you’re going crazy!

I’m here to tell you, you are not crazy! And don’t change who you are!! The thing to do is to, assuming you are a child if God, (and if you’re not, message me and we can talk) read Gods word, really study His word. Get into it and learn about our Heavenly Father. And pray. Pray about everything! Don’t feel foolish. God already knows your heart, your thoughts and your feelings. Growing  spiritually is the best thing any of us can do. That narcissistic personality type is going to get so angry with you when you’re strong in Christ. They are going to lay it on thick! They are going to use your own God against you. So the stronger in Christ the better. To be filled with the Holy Spirit is the only way to go.

So, how then can we live at peace with this type of personality that gets angrier the more we try to do the right thing? That’s the key. Romans 12:18 says when possible, do your part. Sometimes peace is not possible. The best is to stay clear of this personality type. But that’s not always realistic. So, being strong, knowing who you are and standing strong is only part of the equation. We must guard our heart and thoughts against feelings of justification. Against feelings of revenge and so called justice.

I will again repeat, we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We are all human and we will not get it right all  of the time. But don’t beat yourself up over it. Learn and grow.

Just know that you are not alone. God doesn’t want you to be abused or beaten down. But He also wants us to share His light even when (and especially when) it’s so dark around us we can’t see our hand in front of our eyes.

Have any thoughts or insights to share? Please do! We can lift each other up in prayer and encourage each other!
