Leaning on God in a Narcissistic World Not a victim #7

Psalms 56:13 For You delivered me from death,

even my feet from stumbling,

to walk before God in the light of life. | Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

As I’m reading/listening to my devotions this morning, this scripture comes alive in my mind. It reminds me of what is going on in our world today. It reminds me of what happens when I get all flustered and start questioning myself when interacting with a narcissistic person. My mind was awakened by these words. This is a prayer by David in the bible. He was being hunted down. He was hated by the people who were threatened and wanted to be in charge. The thing is, this is so familiar in our world today, more than any other time in my lifetime. Or at least that I’m aware of.

It’s ironic how I started this blog, Not a Victim. It stemmed from one particular person in my life. However, as God does, He shows me more than I could imagine. He’s brought me around to see that our world is full of experiences, some more tragic, more toxic and more threatening than I’ve ever personally experienced.

As we ended 2021 and now head into 2022, we all face the unknown. The future always brings the unknown, but with all the mess we’ve currently left behind, it makes the future even scarier. We have bullies and narcissists everywhere we look, in many things that we read, and in many things we listen to. The narcissists and bullies are trying to control our world, nation, and us. BUT! There is HOPE! There IS a light at the end of the tunnel! And HIS name is JESUS! We just celebrated His birthday! He is the only one! The only way! The truth! The light! The Savior! Without Him our lives are but dust blowing in the air! No matter who you are!

So this next year, 2022 I’m going to delve deeper into “narcissistic” personalities and how to live with them, without them, in spite of them, and how to know, as children of God, what our responses should be. It will probably surprise you, for what I’ve read so far and the answers the Holy Spirit gives me are far from what I expected.

If you are expecting a blog in how to change a narcissistic person, unfortunately this is not that blog. As I’ve written before, I’m not a doctor or a professional. I’m a human being, a child of God, a person who stumbles through life. This blog is about discovering how God wants us, His children to react, reflect, and  respond to the world around us. We can learn together.
