    Prayer Closet

April 1, 2017 “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6  Have you watched the movie, War Room? It’s a great movie. It reminds me so much of my mother-in-law. And it really makes you think about the power of prayer. What an Awesome God we have! It also started a buz about prayer closets, funny how fads come and go. But is a prayer closet a fad? About a year ago a friend of mine showed me her prayer closet. It was an actual closet dedicated…

    Safe Prayer

March 22, 2017 Do you remember the run on the book, Prayer of Jabez? “Jabez called upon the God of Israel saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain?” And God granted what he asked.” I Chronicles 4:10. Yes, I read that book as well. And it was interesting and had some good Biblical advice; but I had to question it as well. I tend to have a very critical spirit. I always have had, I guess it’s in my genes. Yes God…

    Answered Prayer, not about us!

March 15, 2017 In today’s devotion about Hannah I had an epiphany about answered prayer. It’s not about me! In today’s world, even in today’s churches, we are taught to ask God for what we want and He will answer us. Well, yes God loves us, He will take care of us. He answered our prayers. BUT…the answer isn’t just for us! When we are called to wait, it isn’t just for us. With Hannah’s prayer, she had to wait on God’s timing. If she would’ve had a baby sooner, the whole plan would not have worked. God has all the details worked out, so fine tuned that even a…

How can one pray without ceasing?

March 7, 2017 So many ways to pray. Pray without ceasing. How can one pray without ceasing? Every thought in my head goes to the Lord. Everything around me, everything that happens. It’s like breathing, you don’t think about it, you just do it. Yet it hasn’t always been that way. And still, sometimes when I find myself feeling sorry for myself, or cranky, or complaining, I realize that I’ve not had the Lord at the front of my mind. I don’t always remember to pray before I eat or before I go to bed. But, I’m constantly in prayer, giving thanks for each day, the beauty of nature, the ability…

Prayer: Talking to and with God

February 26, 2017 Why is it so hard? Children pray the best prayers, simple and true. As adults we tend to beef them up, make them sound important. The one person I loved to hear pray was my mother-in-law. When she prayed her whole statue changed. She was sincere and sweet and spoke directly to the Heavenly Father. The whole attitude around her changed. They were real prayers, they could be felt.  “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Mathew 6:7

Prayer, why is it so difficult?

February 19, 2017 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing,” Before any critics start blasting my blog, let me explain that I am not proclaiming anything. I am not a professional anything. I’m not blogging on how to pray. I have no expert advice. What I have is my personal experiences. My personal struggles. My personal questions. I will be honest and truthful. I will be open and revealing. Some facts about me: I’m a child of God, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the son of the Holy Father of this universe. I believe in the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother. I’m a human being.

I’ve Been Praying the Wrong Prayer

February 4, 2017 Every day my prayer’s the same. I’m a broken record. There’s a need that we have. God says bring it to Him in prayer. Last week, God spoke to my heart and told me I was praying the wrong thing. He assured me that the prayer I had been praying was answered. In fact I remember distinctly hearing Him answer it almost a year ago. That’s what makes it difficult to understand. Then God gave me a peace and understanding that He has this. My prayer should be, to rest in HIM. For faith and trust. For help not to lean unto my own understanding. These things…

    2017 A New Year A New Day

January 1, 2017 Today marks a new year, a new day, another chance to be active in Gods work. I’m so blessed to be able to have another chance. And if you are reading this, you are too! If we are alive on this earth, no matter what our circumstances are, we have another chance to be about God. Each breath I take is a gift from God! I know it. But I have another prayer, my prayer is that after I go, I will still make a difference here on earth. After I go, I want my legacy to be about the business of God. People talk of New…

    God’s Timing is ALWAYS Right!

December 27, 2016 I shared the above picture on Facebook today. This quote is true, and I do believe this with all of my heart. However, If I’m honest I need to admit that this is a hard thing to do. It shouldn’t be, but it is.  See a previous post from Proverbs 31 Ministries…Click here.

    2016 Comes to an End

December 26, 2016 The last week of 2016 is upon us. It’s been a great, yet fast paced year. It’s been a very stressful and challenging year. It’s been a year of major changes in our lives. It’s been a year of miracle after miracle. I wouldn’t change a thing! God has shown up in so many places and in so many different ways. Not in ways I expected or imagined, but in small things. As I look back over the year, I realize how smoothly it has actually gone. My thoughts, doubts and feelings rage inside of me, ready to explode. The anxiety level, the drama, the fear that…
