    National Day of Prayer

May 4, 2017 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:1-4 What a better day to post than on the National Day of Prayer! Do you make it a habit of praying for our nation? Our leaders? Our government? My prayer in this area use to…

    Pray with confidence

April 27, 2017 “And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou, Jehovah, art God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust,…

    Negative People

April 22, 2017 What can I say? Negative people are all over! And to make it worse many times they are in our family and close friends. We can’t get away from them. And sometimes we are the negative person. I’m so glad God is a positive God! So many times I’ve gone to Him in prayer, just to get help with the negativity. Sometimes We can ignore it, sometimes we can run away from it, but unfortunately most times we face it. It can bring us down, depress us, destroy our dreams, relationships, and deem us paralyzed. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Prayer, Bible  reading, and worship…

    Happy Easter!!!!

April 14, 2017 “Go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” Matthew 28:7 A follow-up on my last prayer blog, just be aware! If you sincerely pray for someone or something, be prepared! God might just use you in a way you may never know! I’m saying this from experience! But remember He will not  give you more than you can handle. God will give you what you need. A word to the wise; remember to let Him!!! Have a wonder Easter! May you share the truth with…

    Special Words

April 5, 2017 “Rejoice in Hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12 Words I hold dear. Holy, Awesome, Promise, Prayer. Holy: Use only to describe the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Spirit. Awesome: Use only to describe the Holy Trinity and Give them Glory! Promise: Use only if absolutely sure follow-through is imminent. Prayer: Use only if sincere about praying for Gods perfect will. These four words are words that I hold dear. I keep separate and protect from misuse in my vocabulary. Why? Words are used for so many reasons these days that sometimes they lose their true identity. My children would get so mad…

    Prayer Closet

April 1, 2017 “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6  Have you watched the movie, War Room? It’s a great movie. It reminds me so much of my mother-in-law. And it really makes you think about the power of prayer. What an Awesome God we have! It also started a buz about prayer closets, funny how fads come and go. But is a prayer closet a fad? About a year ago a friend of mine showed me her prayer closet. It was an actual closet dedicated…

    Safe Prayer

March 22, 2017 Do you remember the run on the book, Prayer of Jabez? “Jabez called upon the God of Israel saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain?” And God granted what he asked.” I Chronicles 4:10. Yes, I read that book as well. And it was interesting and had some good Biblical advice; but I had to question it as well. I tend to have a very critical spirit. I always have had, I guess it’s in my genes. Yes God…

    Answered Prayer, not about us!

March 15, 2017 In today’s devotion about Hannah I had an epiphany about answered prayer. It’s not about me! In today’s world, even in today’s churches, we are taught to ask God for what we want and He will answer us. Well, yes God loves us, He will take care of us. He answered our prayers. BUT…the answer isn’t just for us! When we are called to wait, it isn’t just for us. With Hannah’s prayer, she had to wait on God’s timing. If she would’ve had a baby sooner, the whole plan would not have worked. God has all the details worked out, so fine tuned that even a…

How can one pray without ceasing?

March 7, 2017 So many ways to pray. Pray without ceasing. How can one pray without ceasing? Every thought in my head goes to the Lord. Everything around me, everything that happens. It’s like breathing, you don’t think about it, you just do it. Yet it hasn’t always been that way. And still, sometimes when I find myself feeling sorry for myself, or cranky, or complaining, I realize that I’ve not had the Lord at the front of my mind. I don’t always remember to pray before I eat or before I go to bed. But, I’m constantly in prayer, giving thanks for each day, the beauty of nature, the ability…

Prayer: Talking to and with God

February 26, 2017 Why is it so hard? Children pray the best prayers, simple and true. As adults we tend to beef them up, make them sound important. The one person I loved to hear pray was my mother-in-law. When she prayed her whole statue changed. She was sincere and sweet and spoke directly to the Heavenly Father. The whole attitude around her changed. They were real prayers, they could be felt.  “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Mathew 6:7
