The Fruit of the Spirit: Self Control
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. As I’m writing this blog on the final spiritual gift, I find it very convenient that I just finished a blog post about how I gave in and lost control. See my post, Not A Victim Post #5 to understand what I’m referring to. God is speaking to us all the time. But are we listening? Self control. Today, as I write this blog, I have a totally new perspective on this Fruit of the Spirit, Self Control. 2 Peter 1:6 knowledge with self-control, self-control…

Not a Victim Blog #5
Well, I messed up!! I’m not proud of myself at all. I became that person I used to judge from the side lines. But it was all me! I lost it! It’s amazing how much power a narcissistic personality has, when the target is not rooted in Gods word and not immersed with the power of prayer. I didn’t start the day out with specific prayer for the moment. I didn’t come prepared. I reacted in a moment of weakness. I allowed the narcissist to bring me down to their level. I became the victim allowing the narcissist to claim a victim triumph. After this devastating show of defeat, the…

Not a Victim Blog #4
“Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.” Hebrews 12:2 HCSB https://bible.com/bible/72/heb.12.2.HCSB As I wait at the airport I overhear a conversation between three women. They could very well be talking about the person I’ve been referring to in this blog. Their situation was different but the dialogue was the same. Sitting on the receiving end what I hear seems to be so petty and annoying. However, I’ve been on their side too many times and I understand their pain. …

NOT A VICTIM BLOG POST#3
“If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18 HCSB What does a person do when faced with a narcissistic personality type relative. What does a person do when everything they do is wrong according to this particular person? Live at peace with even this person, not as easy as the words imply. Are you the type of person that’s a rule follower? Somebody that wants everyone to be happy? Do you think of others before yourself? Are you a type of person that will change your plans or ideas if it makes another happy? Well, you’re not alone. And that’s more than ok!!! That’s how God…

Not a Victim #2
“For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began. God, how difficult Your thoughts are for me to comprehend; how vast their sum is!” Psalms 139:13-17 HCSB God knows everyone of us!…

Fruit of the Spirit: Gentleness
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Colossians 3:12 Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience | Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) | Download The Bible App Now While researching this spiritual gift, gentleness, I’m reminded of how truely gentle God is. And I’m also reminded how we, His children, are not. It’s sad that sometimes Gods children who are in the spotlight, fall into sin in front of a world that is watching their every move. And it’s crushing to know, because…

NOT A VICTIM BLOG POST #1
“Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him and be firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 HCSB I’ve been encouraged by the Holy Spirit to blog about yet another subject. A subject that is close to my heart, sensitive, and personal and private. This may not seem that big of a deal to some of you, but believe me when I say, I feel like I’m stepping out into the red sea. I am actually working on a book…

Fruit of the Spirit: Faith
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Moving on to the next listed Fruit of the Spirit, Faith. This Fruit is talked about quite a bit in the religious realm, and mocked in the non-religious realm. To some “Faith” is an escape to reality. To some it’s a flippant way to give advise or explain the unknown. But to Gods children, who know the truth, it’s a reality that we sometimes struggle with. Faith is a gift! A gift of the Holy Spirit! So if Faith is a gift, why do we…

Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 I feel that in today’s generation, with our English language and all of the adjectives we have to describe things, the word ‘Good’ seems like a dull and unimportant word. But… read these scriptures: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 HCSB “God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.” Genesis 1:4 HCSB “God called the dry land “earth,” and He called the gathering of the water “seas.”…

Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. For the month of June my Fruit of the Spirit topic is Kindness. And for some reason, so far, this has been the hardest Gift of the Spirit to write about. Maybe it’s because it’s the only fruit that we can actually do without the Spirit. Or is it? As I struggle to finish the prayer blog on Kindness, I come across this verse in my devotions this July morning. “Do you really think — anyone of you who judges those who do such things…
